even café un deux trois
I was there
madonna lookalike contests at macy’s
r.e.m., pylon, the beasties, public enemy
matt dillon styling on st. mark’s place
I played real rock and roll
with the liquid liquid drummer
I jammed in the misfits basement
running on an experimental assemblage of crank
grabbed a handful of tuinols in union square—
the cramps made me do it—
woke up at home on a mattress of puke pellets
the 80’s were awful, hardly an afterthought
but new york is new york
and I’m happily ever after here to tell ya
